Hey! Just read your article on Outdoor Life about trapping. You all the question, why do people get so fussy about trapping when they eat meat?
ReplyDeleteBecause we empathize with predators and see fast-breeding prey animals as, well. Prey.
I enjoyed learning that current day traps are your definition of humane. But 20 hours in a cage in winter without food or water still sucks, and your comparisons had huge gaps- people who will happily eat a cow which is raised to be eaten, genetically identical to a million other cows, are still allowed to draw the line at seeing rows of foxes dead on a wall. We made cows what they are; foxes are a scrap of something we haven't killed off or tamed yet.
